FTTD (R) networking uses optical socket switches to configure LAN, which is simpler and easier to operate.

At present, the four network operators in China, namely, China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Broadcasting, are promoting FTTX fiber access network, adopting PON network architecture OLT+ODN+ONU networking. For operators, it is relatively simple and cost-effective to build metropolitan area networks and multi-user networks, but there are still many inconveniences in the construction of local area networks, and it is a bit difficult to operate in practice, because in the local network, except for a few technicians at the back end who can configure OLT and ONU through software, it must be difficult to find all-round technical staff. The technicians who can configure cannot connect optical fiber, do not understand line structure, and integrated wiring system. The technicians who can connect optical fiber and understand line structure do not understand system configuration, so it is even more difficult for network technicians in society.

How many people who do network engineering in society understand PON structure network? To realize the use of PON network in LAN and timely troubleshooting when maintenance fails, it is necessary to train professional and comprehensive technicians for all units using PON network architecture. Obviously, this is somewhat unrealistic at present. So how to solve the problem of implementing optical fiber network in LAN and achieve simple operation of construction, maintenance and repair? That is to use active optical network equipment to configure the all-optical network architecture and realize all-optical networking.

The network architecture is not much different from the copper cable network. The maintenance technicians with network construction experience in the society generally understand that it is just to replace the network cable with optical fiber, and only one or two core indoor optical fiber is laid in each area or room (if the number of network points is small, the composite cable of optical fiber power supply can be used for construction), and then distributed to the terminal points through the optical socket switch, instead of laying a large number of network cables according to the network terminal points, which greatly reduces the amount of wiring engineering and materials. The whole structure is to configure the all-optical core switch at the machine room end, install the optical fiber ODF distribution frame, lay it to the weak current room or other nodes through the optical cable, and then use the indoor optical fiber to lay it to the terminal point, connect it to the optical socket switch, and make the optical fiber direct fusion joint in the weak current room or node. In this way, each terminal point is directly connected to the ODF frame at the machine room end, and the network transmission is realized through the optical socket switch to meet the network usage needs.

The installation tools are simple: a screwdriver, a fiber stripper, a fiber stripper, and a fiber cutter can complete the installation. For technicians, the training and operation are fast and simple, and they can usually learn to operate and install after one teaching.

Compared with the PON technical structure, although the use of optical cables will be a little more, the cost of optical cables is now very low, and it can be almost ignored in LAN projects. With the increasing labor costs today, such wiring and networking will greatly reduce the material and labor costs (the cost of optical fiber is about one-tenth of the network cable). At the same time, the transmission characteristics and production requirements of optical fiber are relatively high. Using it instead of network cables also eliminates the uneven quality of social Internet cables and the phenomenon of inferior products being used as good ones, and can save a lot of metal materials copper and other metals.
